Electrosurgical plate (pad) Introduction
Electrosurgery is a technique that is often used in surgery for bleeding control and rapid dissection of soft tissue in surgery. The electrical resistance of these soft tissues against the electromagnetic current produces heat. Electrosurgery endpoints vary based on waveform, power used, and surgical technique. The electrosurgical plate (pad) is one of the accessories of the surgical electrocautery device.
The electrocautery device is actually a radio frequency (RF) generator that is used to cut or coagulate tissue in the operating room. Two electrodes are connected to this radio frequency generator, one of which is the electrosurgery plate. The application of the electrosurgery plate is to absorb the electric current entered into the patient’s body and transfer it to the electrocautery device. The electrosurgery plate has the task of absorbing electric current from the patient’s body. Due to the impedance difference between the patient’s body and the plate, a special gel layer is placed between the patient’s body and the aluminum and performs impedance matching. This device is used in all surgeries that use an electrocautery device. It is mostly used in the operating room of hospitals and clinics.
Electrosurgical plates are a cost-effective and disposable method, to be used for each patient. These pads can be used in all kinds of operations. It distributes heat evenly and leaves no traces. It is easily removed without damaging the fragile skin. This product is available in single-edged and double-edged versions.
